New Meta was founded in 2022 by David Gibbens, a lifelong nerd with a deep love for Marvel, Star Wars, and all things sci-fi/fantasy. As an adult, he wanted a way to stay connected to the things that shaped his childhood, and action figures became that bridge - starting with a Marvel Legends War Machine figure that reignited his passion. From there, he began collecting everything that made him happy growing up, from TMNT and Star Wars to horror movie figures and beyond.

While working in startups and small businesses as an operations and people manager, David started selling figures as a side hustle. He quickly realized that countless others shared his love for collecting and were willing to pay for rare, high-quality, and nostalgic pieces. Seeing the opportunity to blend his professional skills with his passion, he launched New Meta - a toy and collectibles store built for collectors, by a collector.
